Guacamole, wings, beer. Indulged in any of these this past Super Bowl weekend? That OT would have made the best of us turn to the buffalo chicken dip to deal with our stress levels. Don’t worry, you’re not alone. We’ve noticed the gym gets a little empty after the Super bowl. Coincidence? We think not. Here’s how to stay motivated to keep that New Year’s Resolution back on track.

Tip #1 Try a new class  

Have you run around the track one to many times and feel like a racehorse? We feel your pain and Derby season hasn’t even started. A mint julep does sound good but opt for a new workout class instead. Spinning, Zumba, Piloxing, Barre, TRX, hot yoga, rowing, the possibilities are endless. Switching up your workout routine will remind you that you can have fun and sweat at the same time. Take that chips and queso.

Tip #2 Enlist your friends    

Been doing this on your own? There’s strength in numbers. Having a buddy next to you during Zumba will make it easier to laugh it off when you step left instead right. Friends also hold you accountable and you can catch up on the latest gossip from Real Housewives in between reps.

Tip #3 Sign up for a race  

Tis the season for 5Ks, marathons, and Triathlons. If you have a goal you are more likely to stick with your training. A race doesn’t have to be drudgery. Look for fun runs around your city. They have some races where you can get a donut or beer at every mile. That’s some impressive multitasking.

Tip #4 Get new gear 

You know anytime you go shopping you’re excited to wear what you’ve bought. Take this excitement and channel it into burning calories. Running in that blue tank top instead of that ratty old t shirt will make you want to do another lap. You don’t have to break the bank to do this. Old Navy and TJMaxx have great options to look cute on a budget. Also, try adding a new headband like this one to put a little sparkle in your step.
